Farewell Galápagos.
Your magnificent beauty that persevered through centuries
Has rooted itself like a mangrove into our memories.
From cascading waves with momentous history,
And ethereal sunrises that cast mosaic mysteries.
From luscious shadows of overarching greenery,
And orchestral symphonies that paint glorious sceneries.
From sporadic rainfalls that bestow life to the lands,
And our footprints marked on the grainy sands.
Indeed, we have loved our journey.
Farewell Galápagos.
Your tenderness has fostered the beginning of our familia,
Forged on the first night amidst the uncertainty at La Cafetilla.
Señor Mark opened his heart and his home to the crew,
As we ventured deep into the highlands admiring the view.
Every step, we scoured for the tortoises’ rasp,
Measuring their valiant shells, we took a collective gasp.
As we hypothesized, answers led to more questions,
Which Mica and Yasu acknowledged in our lessons.
Under starry nights, our shared laughter filled the space,
Through Catan, Scat, and Pool we all met face to face.
The dinner table buzzed with exchanges of native cuisines,
As it slowly became our newfound routines.
Thank you for the beginning.
Farewell Galápagos.
Fresh sprays of saltwater on each early morning boat ride,
Brought renewed vitality as we rode the open tides.
Massive mangroves encompassed the expansive shorelines,
As vibrant corals and ancient rocks formed intricate designs.
Sea Turtles, Boobies, Penguins, Birds, and Rays,
Danced together through beautiful harmonies in so many ways.
The happy sea lions and cautious iguanas found nests in the rocks,
With their babies coexisting with humans on the docks.
We found peace on the beach through a circle of connection,
And learned that our everyday habits that hurt the environment are an infection.
Slacklining and handstands with Tomás against the setting sun,
Decorated our enjoyment as the last evening on Isabela was the most fun.
Thank you for the process.
Farewell Galápagos.
The Molas shared their knowledge about conservation,
And how their efforts will preserve the environment for the next generation.
We recreated stories about Charles Darwin’s profound revelations,
Carrying his spark and inspiring our own aspirations.
Thinking of our families at home, we visited souvenirs stores,
On the island, we left the mark of Deerfield Doors.
Permeating scents of fresh fruits, car exhaust, and salt from the ocean,
Reinforced, throughout the journey, our growing sense of devotion.
To end the night, the pier at which we arrived became an emotional place,
Through heartfelt gratuities and warm hugs we embraced.
By sharing our memories on the long walk back to the hotel,
We found each other and all together exchanged a farewell.
Thank you for everything.
Farewell Galápagos.
