The Bahamas 2026: #6 Exploring some History of The Bahamas.

As our trip started to reach an end, we started to traverse more of the Eleuthera Island School embracing more of its history. This morning we got up, right before the morning sun to enjoy the nice, refreshing ocean breeze during our bike ride. Our first destination was Sunrise Beach where we enjoyed a captivating view of the sunrise. We stopped to appreciate the scenery as well as walking through the soft sand, bringing us at ease. The sound of the waves crashing calmly into the rocks brought us comfort and relief. We made a stop at an abandoned resort. The resort used to be a tourist attraction, until it had to close down due to many complications with the law. The resort, now taken by nature, is an accurate representation of the natural beauty of the Bahamas. After we returned to the dorms we stopped by the dining hall to have a fulfilling meal for breakfast to energize ourselves, to prepare for our next group activity.

An ever changing island

For now it’s ours, we play in the water and sand

Enjoying the island fun.

Sunburnt but I don’t care now

It will fade with time the memories will stay

Writing poems on a sunny day.

Simple coconut dreams

Water and flesh so sweet tilt back to drink

I’m in coconut heaven.

Time to clean up the dorms

Packing sand filled clothes in neat rows

Don’t leave a trace.

Many new things to see

Treasures that were rare to us

Line our suitcases and fill bags.

Marina restaurant dinner

The feeling now familiar smiles shine bright

Laughing with our new friends.

Bonfire by the big blue sea

Reflecting on what this week meant to me

Memories kept forever.
