On the fifth day, Abi ’27 enjoys tasting some new Spanish foods and discovering new perspectives on the old city of Cadiz.
Today was filled with many meals and laughter. Before we even started the day, we were able to sleep in because the first event got canceled, considering the long day we had yesterday. Now to start the day, we all headed to lunch which was filled with many samples of Spanish food. Everyone put their taste buds to the test and got pushed out of their comfort zone to try new dishes. My personal favorite was the gambas con salsa which was tangy and sweet at the same time. ¡Muy delicioso!
After stuffing our faces, we headed to the Torre Tavira which included many, many stairs but was so worth it to see the beautiful view. Three-quarters of the way up to the top of the tower, we stopped in a room that looked like it had a big plate in the center. Our guide at the torre turned off the lights, and it was completely dark. Then she opened the “cámara oscura”, and on the big plate we could see what was currently happening outside. After that, we climbed the rest of the stairs to an open-air patio and we got time to take photos! After descending the many stairs of the tower, we walked to the only beach in la parte antigua de Cádiz. Last, but not least, we went to the supermarket to pick up a few items that we wanted to have as snacks, which was very fun to do. After the store, we all went our separate ways to go back home!
