Remi ’28 and Nicanor ’28 describe wrapping up their travels with a historic fortress tour in Málaga and a memorable final day in Cádiz.
Today the “Caballeros de Cádiz” (our group nickname) started out our day with hotel breakfast before heading out to see some ruins from the Roman and Islamic eras of Malaga. The Roman theatre was very cool, but the Alcazaba fortress was breathtaking. The architecture and gardens within were beautiful! After following up our archeological exploration with helado, we had some free time where various groups went out to lunch, went shopping, walked around, bowled, or relaxed at the beach. After that, we reconvened at the hotel to hop on the bus back to Cadiz.

Today was our last full day in Cádiz and we made the most of it. We started off bright and early at 9:40 taking a ferry over to El Puerto de Santa Maria. There we explored a castle and learned about its complex history and the different groups that once resided there. After returning back on the ferry we had lunch with our host families and took a much needed siesta. At 6:10 the adventure started again as we took a bus to historical Cádiz and went on sailboats. We listened to music, shared laughs and enjoyed the breeze and setting sun. Finally we ended our day with our final Cádiz ice cream, and we said goodbye to Alicia, our activities coordinator from Mundolengua.
