Fiona ’27 describes a day filled with art and craft activities.
Today we had breakfast with our host mom, and then it was time for school. Our school day consisted of grammar and games with breaks to socialize with the other kids at the school. We ended at 1:30 to go have lunch with our host families, and then everybody either went to the beach or had a relaxing afternoon at their houses.
We met up around 5pm to begin our first activity in the old part of the city. The first activity of the afternoon was a plaster mold and painting class. We started by choosing molds for our crafts, then mixing the plaster powder with water until it reached the consistency of yogurt. We poured the mixture into our molds, and after they were dry, we painted over them in whatever colors we chose. It was relaxing and fun, and we were pleased with the results of our artwork!
Following our art class, we stopped for another delicious helado in front of the Catedral de Cádiz. Our next activity was an espactáculo de flamenco! There was a bailaor, guitarista, and cantaora, and they were all incredible! Some of us even got to go on stage for a few minutes and learn some steps from the main bailaor. After this, we walked a bit more through the beautiful and busy historic center, and then headed back to the bus stop to return home. It was a fun day!
