Celine ’28 and Precious ’28 reflect on their first day of travel, recounting their journey from Deerfield Academy to Bradley Airport on a snowy New England day.
The trip to the everglades started swiftly as we departed from the MSB at 2pm. The weather was snowy and freezing as we rode on the bus for about 1 hour until we arrived at the Hampshire Mall. We spent about an hour there, playing games at the arcade, and enjoying delicious frozen yogurt. After leaving the mall, we drove for about another hour and arrived at the Fairfield Inn. It was a calm night, and after we unpacked, we headed to Ruby Tuesday to have dinner. During dinner, we played games such as “Dots To Square” and shared funny idioms. It was a great opportunity to get to know each other, and share more about ourselves. After dinner, we headed back to the inn and got ready for bed immediately. The next morning, we woke up around 3:30am and got ready for the airport. After gathering at the lounge at 4 am and having a quick to-go breakfast, we rode on the airport bus and drove to the airport. After going through security measures, we finally boarded the plane around 6 am. It was Precious’s first time on an airplane and so it was a unique experience for her. Everybody had a nice three-hour nap on the plane, and safely arrived at Fort Lauderdale. Although the first day of the trip was eventful and filled with long drives, it was an exciting experience for all of us, as we await the journey ahead!
