We are excited to announce that the Legal Journal club will host Deerfield’s Constitution Day speaker Greg Lukianoff, an attorney, The New York Times best-selling author, and President and CEO of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), for an optional Q&A on Tuesday, September 8, after dinner in the Wachsman Concert Hall.
Greg Lukianoff has spent nearly two decades on the front lines of the fight for free expression, first as an attorney and now as the leader of FIRE, one of the nation’s foremost organizations defending free speech and academic freedom on campuses and beyond. His work has shaped national conversations about censorship, cancel culture, and the health of American discourse.
He is the co-author of three major books tracing the evolution of these debates:
The Coddling of the American Mind: How Good Intentions and Bad Ideas are Setting Up a Generation for Failure
The Canceling of the American Mind: Cancel Culture Undermines Trust and Threatens Us All—But There is a Solution
The War on Words: 10 Arguments Against Free Speech—and Why They Fail
We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking conversation about free speech, open inquiry, and the challenges facing honest dialogue today.
