As a unique weekend activity, students explored Harlem for the day and visited the newly reopened Studio Museum of Harlem.
This extraordinary museum features artwork by Lorna Simpson, Gordon Parks, Kara Walker, Carrie Mae Weems, Romare Bearden, Barkley Hendricks, Kerry James Marshall, and many more legendary artists, while offering studio art classes to people of all ages. Visual and Performing Arts teacher Tim Trelease offered a tour, and DA students engaged with the artwork and discussed powerful themes illuminated by the artists.
