Italy #5: Temples, Tanit, and a Six-Sentence Challenge

This summer, 10 Students and two faculty members are traveling to Italy to examine the Etruscan, Greek, Roman, medieval, renaissance and modern footprints on the Italian peninsula and in Sicily. Please enjoy this blog post below from Suditi ’27 as she succinctly Summarizes the groups day.

This group of classics scholars vivaciously left the hotel in Marsala at 7 AM, arriving directly at an archeological site in Agrigento.

We circumambulated the Valley of Temples, which included Ionic-style temples to Heracles, Concordia, and Zeus.

After observing a flag ceremony for Italian Republic Day at the site, we ruminated in a lemon grove until lunch.

While Mt. Etna was erupting, we were enjoying la dolce vita, until dinner at 7 PM.

We dined at a local seafood place, after which we received gelato for finding Tanit (a Phoenician goddess) at an archeological site.

One may be wondering why this blog post is so short, I would reply with: Joshua ’26 challenged me to summarize our day in 6 sentences.
