ITS has been implementing File Encryption on all Deerfield-owned Mac computers. The software, FileVault, will help secure your data on your computer. It’s a required install that has been pushed out to all student MacBooks by class, and you’re next! FileVault will be distributed to members of the Class of ’28 at 3 pm on Thursday, April 17.
At that time, or the next time you turn your computer on, you will receive a prompt in the bottom right corner of your screen asking if the installation can begin or if you wish to delay it for up to 3 days. You must allow the installation within three days. The installation process can take up to 15 minutes. After the installation, a restart of your computer is required. This week, you will receive an email showing you the prompts and how to proceed. Please call the ITS Help Desk at ext. 1444, if you have any questions.
