Magda ’26 shares about the groups experience at NBC Studio for a taping of Meet the Press.
The day started with an early 7:00 a.m. wake-up, the earliest of the whole trip. But it was absolutely worth it. We took a walk to the NBC Studio to watch Meet the Press get filmed live. Seeing how a live broadcast works behind the scenes—seeing all those lights and cameras—was a very unique experience. Before the broadcast began, guest Senator Andy Kim stop to say hello to us and share that it was his first time on Meet the Press. Ours, too! (We appear in the background 29:33 minutes into the episode.) After the show we got the chance to take a picture on set and have an extended conversation with host Kristen Welker and executive producer David Gelles. We asked them a lot of questions about how the team chooses guests for the show and how they craft the right questions. It was incredible to hear from professionals so experienced in political journalism and to get a deeper look into their world. Sunday morning ended up being one of the best moments of our D.C. trip, leaving us inspired. — Magda ’26
