Matilda, the Musical is based on the 1988 novel Matilda by Roald Dahl, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and the book by Dennis Kelly.
The audition process occurs in two stages:
1. A five minute appointment which occurs between 3:30-5:30pm on Monday, November 17th or Tuesday November 18th.
2. All auditioning students come together to dance at 3pm on Wednesday November 19th. You will learn a short dance phrase and perform it in groups. If you consider yourself a trained dancer, you will improvise utilizing your favorite technical attributes.
Ms. Wei will be at the piano when you sing your short song (less than a minute.) Please email your sheet music to Ms. Wei ASAP [email protected]. Below are a few notes on the sheet music. Please include your:
1. Score in the key you are singing.
2. Score for solo voice and piano with lyrics.
3. Clearly mark any cut and jumps.
4. To save time, write the metronome marking of the tempo you prefer.
5. Score in PDF file or printed copies 8 ½ x 11, white paper, black and white only.
*You will also perform a short monologue of your choice, no more than 2 minutes in length. Show as much vocal and emotional range as possible. Memorized is best so that you are free to act. HAVE FUN, this show is a good time!
