DA Speech & Debate Sweeps at Loomis

On Sunday, DA Speech & Debate traveled to Loomis Chaffee for their 43rd annual debating tournament. At Loomis, debaters had one hour to read and annotate a ten-page info packet on the resolution, “Be it resolved that the United States government should develop and implement policies designed to reduce the production and consumption of meat in part by raising the price of meat to consumers.” After one hour, two-person teams debated three rounds, switching sides—affirmative and negative—as they went.

Competing against 134 debaters, Alice ’28, Casey ’28, Chelsea ’27, and Nikita ’27 took first-place team in the novice division; Casey was top novice debater overall.

In the advanced division, Billy ’25, Edie ’25, John ’26, and Myles ’25 took first-place team; Myles was third-place advanced debater, and Edie was top advanced debater overall.

Another great showing for DA Speech & Debate!
