Next Saturday, May 12, there will be a community service and volunteering opportunity offered down at the baseball fields near Barton where there will be trees planted. The grounds department had generously opened the project to the Deerfield community to participate in. For those of you interested, we will be backfilling dirt into trees already placed in holes dug by a machine. (The trees turned out too big for the community to experience the full planting process, but we’re welcomed to watch the professionals). It shouldn’t be too much work, but we will have a hands-on experience, so dress prepared to get dirty. There will be donuts and refreshments offered, so even if you want to just stop by you are completely welcomed to. The tree planting will be done from 9:30-10:00 AM, so it shouldn’t be too hot yet. It’s a great opportunity, and these trees will most likely still be up forty to fifty years from now. Please shoot me an email if you’re interested in this experience!
