The Bahamas #1: The Adventure Begins!

Heather Brown – March 10, 2018

This afternoon, 12 Deerfield students, Robin Lempicki and Julia Rivellino-Lyons departed campus to start their journey to the Cape Eleuthera Institute (CEI). Since they don’t fly out until tomorrow, the group will spend the night at a hotel near the airport preparing for their trip by continuing to share presentations that the students have developed on various topics surrounding Eleuthera’s history, culture, environment, and more.

During the next week in Eleuthera, through daily learning activities and  field excursions, students and faculty will explore the rich biodiversity in Eleuthera while contextualizing their observations within the realities of culture and the challenges of sustainability.

While this trip is “unplugged” (students will not have access to cell phones or internet during the trip), we look forward to reading their reflections on Deerfield’s Notes From Abroad website and the Deerfield’s Bulletin.
