International Public Speaking Competition

communications – May 14, 2013

Hello Darlings,

I hope you are all enjoying the last few days of school. Next year, Deerfield is hoping to send three Deerfield students to Ontario to compete in a public speaking competition. It’s a fun competition with events, some prepared (i.e. after dinner speaking, dramatic reading, etc.) and some unprepared (i.e. parliamentary debate, impromptu speaking, etc.). We will be hosting auditions next Thursday, the 23rd at 6:45pm, in the Deerfield Room.

Please come prepared to deliver a 3-5 minute prepared reading, preferably memorized, but not mandatory, and an impromptu speech.

We would love to have you try out, regardless of experience or year.
Please email if you are interested.

Here is some information about the competition:

The Country Day School in King, Ontario (Canada) has the privilege of hosting the prestigious International Independent Schools’ Public Speaking Competition this fall. This 4-day event will run  from October 17th-20th, 2013.  The competition will feature 50 schools from around the globe, each competing in three of nine public speaking events.
