“A Civil Action”–A Discussion of Law, Ethics and the Environment to take place this Monday 5-21 in the Garonzik

O'Donnell, Sonja Krusic – May 20, 2012

Please join us at 6:45PM in the Garonzik on Monday, May 21st as we welcome attorney Jerry Facher to campus.  As many of you know, Mr. Facher is one of Mr. Jacob’s law partners and was lead counsel for one of the parties in the lawsuit (Mr. Jacobs assisted him on the case) that became famous in the bestselling book and subsequent film starring John Travolta, A Civil Action.  The 1996 work of non-fiction by Jonathan Harr depicted a water contamination case in Woburn, Massachusetts in the 1980s, becoming a best-seller and winning the National Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction.  Mr. Facher and Mr. Jacobs will share aspects of their experience working on the case and discuss the various facets of this fascinating story.  Part of what they will share is how the story Mr. Harr tells in his book differs form their interpretation of the events.
