This May, the Little White House Project will be installed at the Emily Dickinson Museum and other locations around Amherst. As part of this new installation, we are launching an art competition. All members of the Deerfield community are invited to participate, including all students, employees, and their families. All artwork must be made within a one foot by one foot wooden cutting from the original construction of the houses, and relate in some way to the writings of Emily Dickinson. All media will be considered, including drawing, painting, photography, or mixed media collage. A cash prize of $100 will be awarded to three artists, chosen by a panel of students and teachers, and the winning works will be displayed at the Emily Dickinson Museum during the Little White House Exhibit in May and June 2012. In addition, we will also be displaying many of the submissions at Deerfield. Anyone who is interested in entering this competition should contact Tim Trelease to obtain a wooden panel. All entries must be received before April 27.
