Earlier this month, fifteen Deerfield students traveled to the Dominican Republic to build a house with the organization Cambiando Vidas. Led by dance teacher Jennifer Whitcomb and math teacher Sheryl Cabral, the team finished the construction of the entire house, including electricity and indoor plumbing, in just four days. This is the third house that Deerfield students have built in the rural villages of Las Charcas and Lavapie in the central part of the Dominican Republic. Another DA team will travel to the DR next June and there is also an open build scheduled for July 28-August 6 of this summer. Please contact Mrs. Cabral if you are interested in either of these opportunities.
