We invite you to participate in one or a couple of the following asynchronous and synchronous opportunities available through the CSGC during D-Term to become CSGC Leaders!
Complete three of the CSGC opportunities by January 4th and when you are back on campus you will be invited to receive a leadership title and work with other like-minded individuals to share your experience! Email your submissions and record of D-term service to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Books from Around the World:
Ann Morgan took on the ambitious project to read at least one book from every country in the world in 2012 – A Year of Reading the World. In total, she read 197 books! Thankfully, Morgan selected her top ten that are (at the time) readily available.

Your quest: Select one of these books to read over D Term and think about whether or not there are any intersections between the story of the book and either your life, life at Deerfield Academy, culture here in the U.S. or your home country. Create a way to share your insights through art, video, essay, etc. This is your adventure, so the finished product should be authentic to you.
Added challenge should you choose: Partner with a classmate on the same book and create a video discussion on your different viewpoints and reactions.
Passport-Free Travel around the World:
You don’t need your passport to travel the globe with this adventure. Across the globe, there are human made structures and natural sites and wonders that have received the UNESCO designation. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has awarded this designation to 1,121 sites worldwide.
Your quest: Select five stories from the partnership with UNESCO and Google Arts and culture. There are 40 in total. After reading these stories, identify three questions or topics you would like to know more about across all five and find additional resources (video, music, essays) that correspond with your questions. Your adventure, your choice. Create a storyboard of your additional resources or share a video or essay with the information you discovered.
Added challenge should you choose: Visit the UNESCO list of 52 sites that are categorized as “In Danger.” Select three of these sites that you would like to see in person. Tell us why you selected them, why they have this “in danger” designation and if there is anything you can do to advocate for its repair, reconstruction or other work to upgrade its status.
If all three of these sound interesting to you, then go all in! Select samples from each and determine similarities across cultures. ……something about a multi-disciplary output….find music, specific people, something that relates to you personally.
