Job Posting: Cook/Cashier Part Time Mornings

The Deerfield Academy Dining Hall is seeking a part-time Cashier/Cook to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings; 7:30 – 11:30 a.m. during the academic year.

 Primary responsibilities include: provide excellent customer service to all guests in the Greer Store and/or Café Louis, preparing and cooking short order food and prepare beverages including espresso drinks and smoothies, operate commercial kitchen equipment including fryers, espresso machines, grills, ovens, slicers, soft-serve dispensers and dishwashers; operating a POS system and accurately settling the cash drawer at the end of each shift; maintaining a clean and sanitary work area; ordering stockroom and bakery items and stocking shelves.

Qualifications include: completion of 12th grade or equivalent; have working knowledge of food service, food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices in a commercial kitchen; knowledge of and ability to operate a cash register; ability to meet schedules and timelines; is able to work well with others; possesses a strong customer service ethic; has the ability to perform multiple tasks under stressful situations. The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends is required. ServSafe certification preferred, or the willingness to become certified.
