Reporting to the Campus Stores Manager, the Athletic Store Retail Assistant will provide sales, inventory and merchandise support and assistance in the athletic store. This is an academic year position that works approximately 20 hours per week. Weekend shifts will be required.
Primary responsibilities include: staff the athletic store generally during afternoon hours and all day Saturday to provide cashiering, customer services and support; handle return orders to the satisfaction of the customer and in keeping with proper inventory and accounting procedures; keep merchandise neat and clean, folding and restocking shelves, racks and drawers as necessary; assist with planning and implementation to ensure success of special events; coordinate merchandise ordering to provide on time and sufficient inventory for regular sales and special events; rotate seasonal merchandise and displays for each term; keep store clean, neat and inviting; co-manage inventory levels, displays, stock and physical counts to ensure proper inventory, management and accountability.
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years of retail experience, the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, alumni and employees in a positive and helpful manner, strong communication skills, basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, with interest and ability to enhance those skills, and enthusiasm for change and the provision of innovative service.
