ABOUT THIS POSITION: JOB TITLE
Deerfield Academy announces a search for the position of Associate Director of Admission to work from 8/14/2019 – 6/30/2020.
Strategic Engagement – collaborate with Admission Officers to develop and execute strategy, consistent with the Academy’s mission and enrollment goals; develop and attract a diverse, talented candidate pool of applicants; develop and maintain a nuanced understanding of the Academy’s curriculum, programs, and initiatives; participate in the creation and review of external admission materials, in partnership with Admission and Communications Offices.
Candidate Selection Process – interview applicants; write a thorough and accurate summary of each interview to provide proper information into candidate review; cultivate and yield new candidates through outreach efforts, including personal engagement and Academy sponsored events; travel to recruit qualified students; collaborate with program leaders to help attract special interest candidates; partner with student tour guides to ensure an effective and appropriate engagement with visiting families; co-chair one cohort within Admission Committee; present and evaluate all completed candidates during admission committee meetings for voting, to ensure timely March notification.
Academy stakeholder Collaboration – represent the Academy to external constituencies, including prospective students, parents, alumni, placement counselors and educational consultants, to help build strategic infrastructure and appropriate information sharing on admission process and climate; effectively partner with Admission Office Staff to ensure departmental goals and protocols are met.
The successful candidate will possess: a Bachelor’s Degree plus 1 – 3 years of Admission related experience preferred; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; the ability to work as part of a team; strong work ethic and energy; the ability to prioritize in a deadline driven environment; excellent organizational skills, and high attention to detail; discretion, a sensitivity to confidential information, a strong aptitude for technology, cultural competency, and a willingness to travel.
