Job Posting: Assistant to the Office of Academic Dean

Deerfield Academy seeks to fill a full-time staff position, the Assistant to the Office of the Academic Dean, to start mid-to-late summer of 2020.

Reporting to the Academic Dean, the Assistant supports the Dean and the operations of Academic Dean’s office.

The primary responsibilities of the Assistant to the Office of the Academic Dean will be to support the Academic Dean, portions of the Academic Program, and the overall smooth operations of the Academic Dean’s Office team.

Additional responsibilities include: advise the Academic Dean on priority action items and help manage the varied activities of the Office of the Academic Dean; aggregate, analyze, and synthesize information to assist with the development of program policy; maintain the Dean’s calendar, meeting notes, and correspondence; edit reports and correspondence in a timely fashion; coordinate Academic Dean’s meetings and events; maintain and communicate relevant portions of the school calendar, special schedules, tally calendar, and academic events; support the Academic Standing Committee; manage office communications including email, phone, bulk email, website, and academic calendar, ensuring clear and effective communication of office policy with both internal and external stakeholders; provide exceptional reception service by generally being the initial recipient of office-related phone calls, emails, and visitors and coordinate overall smooth operations of the Academic Dean Office team.

The following qualifications are required: Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3-5 years’ experience coordinating and supporting a team or an office setting; excellent organization, oral and written communication skills; diplomacy to manage challenging interpersonal interactions; excellent office and technical skills (MS Office Suite, Google Suites, course registration software) and data entry skills; ability to effectively multitask; ability to manage and sensitivity to highly confidential information; ability to work independently as well as part of a team, detail oriented and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
