Reporting to the Athletic Director, and taking direction from and collaborating with the Fitness Center Manager, this person will work with the Athletic teams, and students and employees utilizing the Fitness Center. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist in overseeing the Deerfield Academy Fitness Center’s policies, equipment, and related programs. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that works during the academic year.
Responsibilities include: assisting in managing the Academy’s 5,000 square foot fitness center; designing and coordinating orientation programs for all users of the space; assisting in coordination of individual and team strength and fitness rehabilitation programs; assisting with coordination of community wellness initiatives and programs affiliated with the fitness center, pool and other Academy athletic facilities.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree, NSCA Strength and Conditioning coach certification, or ability to obtain within one year of employment; desire and ability to work with students, coaches and employees in a residential private secondary school setting; excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision making skills; technical expertise, including MS Office, and electronic medical record system; must have an ability to cultivate a positive learning environment that encourages accountability and positive mental health; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
