Stock Room Clerk

Deerfield Academy has a unique opportunity for a versatile candidate to work during our academic year in our award-winning Dining Hall as a Stock Room Clerk. At the conclusion of the academic year, the individual in this role will transition to our Facilities Department to support our Custodial or Grounds teams for up to 10 weeks in the summer months.

Primary Stock Room responsibilities include receiving deliveries and ensuring that all items received are correct and in acceptable condition.  Put all delivered items away in their proper locations, rotating stock appropriately and following all other quality and safety standards with regard to food storage.  Deliver food and supplies to various locations on and off campus.  Set up essential catering functions in an attractive manner.  Conduct accurate monthly inventory of food and supplies.  Assist the Purchasing Manager with ordering and maintaining appropriate par levels of food and supplies.  Keep all food storage areas in neat and clean condition.  Use e-mail to communicate when employees have called out or will be late for their shifts.  Perform duties of Dishwasher and Utility Worker as needed, and of Food Service Worker as needed.

Primary Facilities responsibilities may include: Assisting the custodial team to clean and maintain buildings ensuring all assigned areas are cleaned on a daily basis and/or assisting the grounds team to maintain the physical aspects of the campus grounds, school-owned houses, and athletic fields.

 Qualifications include: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent.  1 – 3 years of experience with receiving and safe food storage principles.  ServSafe certification preferred, or willingness to become certified.  Knowledge of basic catering set-up for various types of functions and events.  Possession of a valid driver’s license.  Ability to meet schedules and timelines.   Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others.  Ability to understand hazards and follow safety procedures when using chemicals and equipment.

Sign-on Bonus – The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at the time of hire and $500 at the end of 90 days.)
