Social Media & Email Manager

Deerfield Academy seeks an experienced Social Media and Email Manager.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, and in collaboration with other members of the Communications Office, the Social Media and Email Manager supervises the Academy’s social media, bulk email, and online advertising platforms with an emphasis on achieving promotional and strategic goals, gathering assets and distributing news, increasing engagement, and ensuring a consistent voice for the Academy in electronic communications.

Responsibilities include: create original and adapt previously-designed assets and content for use in online channels; post to social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), deerfield.edu (The Pulse), email newsletters, paid search and display advertising, and other emerging platforms; collect assets (photography, etc.) for social media, email, and other online channels; consult with internal customers on how social media and email marketing can best support their goals for yield, fundraising, engagement, etc.; train, support, and guide administrative users in content management, social media, and other electronic tools; develop and manage bulk email templates and systems; schedule, build, and send bulk emails (invitations, etc.) and newsletters; develop and implement plans for online content and messaging to align with, supplement, and enhance the Academy’s print materials; maintain and grow Deerfield’s social media presence, with an emphasis on extending outreach, recruiting, and constituent engagement; manage and moderate online discussions, collect performance metrics, and recommend adjustments in communications strategy; find new audiences for the Academy’s message; and document social media and email best practices and policies.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; 3-5 years of relevant experience; experience in for-profit marketing, advertising, communications, or public relations preferred; ability to create, recreate, redesign, or adjust materials in Adobe Creative Suite; experience with content management systems or platforms (e.g. WordPress); experience with photography and videography, writing/editing, and direct marketing tactics; basic knowledge of HTML/CSS; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multi-task effectively; ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
