Deerfield Academy seeks two Full-time Security Officers to join our team. The positions require weekend work and possible varied shifts.
- 40 hrs – Second shift (4:00pm – 12:00am)
- 40 hrs – Second / Third shift (4:00pm – 12:00am / 12:00am – 8:00am)
Reporting to the Director of Safety & Security, Deerfield Academy’s Security Officers work with all campus departments to provide a safe environment in which to learn, work, and visit.
Primary responsibilities include developing relationships with employees to promote positive communications and team building; managing traffic and human control on a daily basis and for academy events; training students and employees on Emergency Procedures; utilizing emergency notification systems such as RAVE and Visiplex alert systems; S2 card access program use; responding to all emergency calls, threats to the safety and security of students and/or employees, including fire and security alarms; completing Incident Reports according to standard departmental protocols; patrolling Academy property regularly throughout shifts; checking doors, gates, windows and all points of entry; inspecting all campus buildings on a regular basis to ensure compliance with state and local fire regulations and monitoring campus security and fire alarms.
The successful candidate will have completed 12th grade or the equivalent; have 1-3 years’ work experience in a position of responsibility, ability to deal with adults, adolescents and children in a pleasant, cooperative manner, good verbal and written communication skills, mentally capable of performing multiple tasks under stressful situations, ability to function in a fast-paced environment, ability to visually operate a computer, and to make general observations of facilities or structures, demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community; and ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information. First Responder, CPR, and AED certified, or ability to become certified, and valid Driver’s License required.
Starting Pay: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on training and experience.
Sign on Bonus – The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at the time of hire and $500 at the end of 90 days.)
