Lead Preschool Teacher

The Early Learning Center at Deerfield Academy is seeking a Lead Preschool Teacher.  The Center consists of two classrooms, one of preschool aged children and the other of toddlers, 15 months+. This is a Group II position, working 40 hours/week for 38 weeks during the academic year and 8 weeks during the summer.

Responsibilities: Developing and implementing age appropriate curriculum for preschoolers, preparing lessons and materials for classroom, ensuring the health and well-being of children in care, monitoring children’s progress and behavior, attending early childhood conferences or classes, first aid training and CPR certification training, supervising volunteers or student interns, and other duties as requested.

Qualifications: Associate’s Degree in a related field, EEC Lead Teacher certification required, 3-5 years’ experience teaching in the field of early childhood with preschool age children, knowledge of early childhood development, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to establish rapport with parents, colleagues and children, the ability to work effectively within a teaching team and the ability to lift 30+ lbs.  Successful candidates will be energetic, patient, and love being with children.

All lead teachers are subject to criminal background checks as well as fingerprinting for EEC and MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Sign on Bonus – The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at the time of hire and $500 at the end of 90 days.)
