Environmental Management Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Facilities Operations, and collaborating with the Facilities team the Environmental Management Coordinator, plans, coordinates and oversees compliance with environmental regulatory programs for the Academy’s campus and operations.  The Environmental Management Coordinator ensures regulatory compliance, assists in promoting safe work practices, and promotes recycling, resource conservation, and energy efficiency to complement the campus’ sustainability efforts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include: managing the implementation of school’s obligations under various state and federal environmental regulatory programs, ensuring compliance with all programs; coordinate collection, storage, labelling, and disposal of regulated waste, special waste, universal waste, and hazardous waste, including documented inspections, oversight of disposal vendor, and record keeping; collaborating with and providing support to campus departments as needed; managing implementation of asbestos programs including AHERA and NESHAP, oversight of consultants and abatement vendors; maintaining up-to-date management plans and record-keeping, including conducting semi-annual AHERA inspections and 3-year comprehensive 3rd party AHERA inspections; managing implementation of Lead Compliant Housing programs including direction and oversight of consultants and abatement vendors; maintaining up-to-date records concerning status of each campus residence, including oversight of notices and documentation; providing support, training and program maintenance to Carpentry & Paint Department and vendors with respect to the Renovation & Repair Program, (RRP; managing Pest Control requests/vendors and Integrated Pest Management Plans for the school campus and Early Learning Center; and coordinating maintenance of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database. Manage and maintain all recordkeeping and annual reporting for all environmental regulatory programs as required.

The successful candidate for this opportunity will have completed their Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or a related engineering discipline or sustainability field; have 5-7 years’ experience in oversight of environmental regulatory programs compliance; have completed Asbestos training as “Designated Person”, or similar designation; lead safety training as Lead-Safe Renovator, or similar designation; have the ability and willingness to obtain other relevant training or licenses as needed; have excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail; a high level of quantitative skills to perform business related calculations with accuracy; proficiency with technology (Microsoft Office Suite, Web filings/uploads, Excel, etc) and the ability to learn other software and applications as needed; ability to multitask; ability to work independently or part of a team and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.

A valid Driver’s License is required.

Sign on Bonus – The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at the time of hire and $500 at the end of 90 days.)
