Cashier/Cook

The Deerfield Academy Dining Hall is seeking full-time Cashier/Cooks to work 40 hours per week. Typical schedule includes evening and weekend hours.

 Primary responsibilities include: provide excellent customer service to all guests in the Greer Store, preparing and cooking short order food such as sandwiches, chicken tenders, French fries etc.; operating a POS system and accurately settling the cash drawer at the end of each shift; operating and maintaining food equipment, including food slicer, Panini grill, espresso machine, soft-serve dispensers and dishwashers; maintaining a clean and sanitary work area; ordering stockroom and bakery items and stocking shelves.

Qualifications include: have working knowledge of food service, food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices in a commercial kitchen; knowledge of and ability to operate a cash register; ability to meet schedules and timelines; is able to work well with others; possesses a strong customer service ethic; has the ability to perform multiple tasks under stressful situations. The ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends is required. ServSafe certification preferred, or the willingness to become certified.

Sign on Bonus – The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at the time of hire and $500 at the end of 90 days.)
