Bus Chaperone

Deerfield Academy’s Student Life Office is seeking Bus Chaperones to supervise groups of students on charter buses that provides transportation for school vacation departures and returns. This is a yearly intermittent position that requires flexibility. Typically bus chaperones are needed four times a year, November, December/January, February, and March.

For the 2021/2022 Academic year departures are on December 16th, February 3rd, and March 4th requiring arrival to campus at noon. Returns trips are on January 3rd, February 7th, and March 20th vary departure time by destination.

Primary responsibilities include: checking students onto the bus utilizing provided lists and maintain proper counts and records for the Student Life Office; maintain safe behavior and interactions between students while on the bus, and assist the bus driver with any needed communications or concerns.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent; 1 – 3 years’ working with groups of individuals; the ability to effectively communicate with students and employees; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community. A cell phone is required to communicate from the departing bus.
