Reporting to the Fitness Center Manager/Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, and taking direction from and collaborating with the Athletic Department, the Strength & Conditioning Coach will work with athletic teams, students, and employees who utilize the Fitness Center, and assist with oversight of the Fitness Center’s policies, equipment, and related programs.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position that works during the academic year.
Responsibilities include: Assist in managing the Academy’s Fitness Center to ensure safety and functionality of all equipment; coordinate orientation programs for all users of the space to ensure proper use of fitness equipment; assist in designing both individual and team strength and fitness rehabilitation programs in conjunction with the Athletic Training Staff and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach; assist in coordinating community wellness initiatives and programs affiliated with the fitness center, pool and other Academy athletic facilities; responsible for daily set ups, cleaning the Fitness Center equipment, overseeing maintenance of the training equipment, and organizing of the area.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree, NSCA Strength and Conditioning coach certification, or ability to obtain within one year of employment; 1-3 years’ experience as a strength coach, desire and ability to work with students, coaches and employees in a residential private secondary school setting; excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills; proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Drive, ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information; must have an ability to cultivate a positive learning environment that encourages accountability and positive mental health; ability to work independently and as part of a team and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
