2020 Senior Parent Gift
Each year, parents of seniors generously underwrite a priority project at Deerfield.
We are excited to announce that this year’s Senior Parent Gift will honor the Class of 2020 by supporting the construction of a new dormitory and naming the Student Common Room on the first floor.
Designed by award-winning firm ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge, the two-story, 33,600-square-foot dormitory will be located prominently on campus next to the DeNunzio dorm, and will provide approximately 20 student rooms and four faculty apartments.
A distinguishing feature of Deerfield, and a cornerstone of this community, is our residential program, with nearly 570 boarding students living in 16 dormitories alongside faculty residents.
Time spent in the dorm fosters camaraderie and connection among students and between students and faculty. This has long been an essential element of the Deerfield Experience, and creates opportunities for students of different backgrounds to live and learn together while being mentored by devoted teachers.
The dormitory will not only provide living space for students, but will support a critical and ongoing need at Deerfield: attracting and retaining outstanding faculty. Increasingly, faculty members come to Deerfield with a spouse and children, and creating welcoming and adequate spaces for them is paramount. Our new dorm will go a long way to meeting this goal.
Perhaps the last new building to be constructed on the central campus in a decade, the dormitory will be a wonderful addition to Deerfield. We invite you to support this exciting project; additional information may be found here.
Marcie and Nick Alexos, parents to Angelique, are the parent co-chairs for this project.
Commitments to the 2020 Senior Parent Gift may be paid over a five-year period, so we ask families to please consider a gift that is a multiple of their previous giving in support of the Academy.
