Megan Hayes-Golding

Science Teacher

Megan has been teaching science and mathematics since 2004 and hails most recently from the metro Atlanta area. She's a 1996 graduate of Auburn University's Materials Engineering program and holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Mathematics from Georgia State University.

Professionally, Megan is interested in issues of equity and inclusion; effective physics teaching pedagogy; computational modeling; and learning through making.

Before becoming a teacher, Megan worked as an engineer in two fields: industrial automation and internet security. Both of those jobs provided formative experiences she now uses in her classroom -- the former introduced her to computer-controlled robotics and the latter to programming.

Megan lives in Dewey with her wife Liz and their three cats. They (Megan and Liz, not the cats) love geocaching, camping, and extending their list of National Parks visited. She also has a daughter, Rachel, a recent graduate of Georgia Tech.

At Deerfield, Megan teaches physics and robotics; co-sponsors the GSA and JSA; and teaches student-makers in the Innovation Lab.
