David Payne

Visual Arts Teacher

David earned a bachelor’s degree in history (UMass), masters degrees in Historic Preservation (University of Vermont) and architecture (University of Miami), and a PhD in design (Clemson University). After working for a variety of preservation organizations and architectural firms and teaching part-time at the Boston Architectural College, he began teaching full-time in 2007 at the American College of the Building Arts in Charleston, SC. David’s time in Charleston also included new design and preservation projects as well as teaching as an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston and Clemson University. He grew up in Agawam, MA and is excited to return to beautiful western Massachusetts. He lives in Louis Marx dorm with his wife, Beverley, and sons George, Charlie, and Henry.
