Brooke Fernandez

Associate Athletic Director, Girls Hockey Coach

Fernandez enters her first year at Deerfield, she will lead our girls hockey team and work in the Athletics Department as an Associate Athletic Director.  She came to Deerfield from Middlebury College where she served as an assistant coach with the women’s hockey team for two seasons. During her time at Middlebury, the program captured two NESAC titles and was ranked 7th in the country. Prior to Middlebury, she was the Brewster Academy head coach in 2015-16 and assistant in 2014-15.  Additionally, she works as a district evaluator for USA Hockey in New England, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.

Before to her coaching career, she was a four-year standout as a defenseman at St. Lawrence University. She is second all-time at the school in career goals for a defenseman (26) and third in points (87). Fernandez was an all-league selection and a member of the ECAC All-Tournament team in 2012, when her squad captured the ECAC Championship. She was also a four-year member of the ECAC All-Academic team and a finalist for ECAC Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year in 2013. She earned her degree from St. Lawrence in 2013, majoring in history and anthropology.

Fernandez went on to play professional hockey in Switzerland for a year after graduation, where she was 5th in the nation for points. Prior to attending St. Lawrence, she played four years of hockey at Loomis Chaffee, earning New England Prep Player of the Year honors in 2009.
