Softball Earns Victory on Senior Day

On Saturday’s senior day, the Big Green celebrated the team’s solo senior, co-captain Vic’Kaysha Rivera, and defeated Miss Porter’s 14-3.

Katie Mountz ’27 collected three hits in three at bats; she hit a home run to center field in the second inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the second inning.

The Big Green earned the win thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning. An error scored one run, Jaden Matteson ’29 singled, scoring two runs, Kiely Kinchla ’28 singled, scoring two runs, and Mountz homered to center field, scoring three runs.

A sacrifice fly by Lauren Mrowka ’27 put the Big Green on the board in the bottom of the first.

The Big Green scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mrowka singled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, Mountz doubled, scoring one run, Jian Yeo ’27 singled, scoring one run, and Maggie Garbarino ’27 singled, scoring one run.

Nicole Lefavour ’27 earned the win for Deerfield. The right-handed pitcher gave up eight hits and three runs over the five innings, striking out three and walking none.

The Big Green piled up 12 hits in the game. Garbarino and Mrowka each collected multiple hits for the Big Green. Kinchla stole two bases and collectively the Big Green stole five bases in the game.

With the victory, the Big Green return to the win column and are back in action this Wednesday on the road at Suffield. The first pitch is set for 3pm.
