Deerfield’s Girls Varsity Tennis team wrapped up their season in triumphant fashion on Saturday afternoon, earning an empowering 7-2 win over Choate. The final match of the season served as a celebration of both success and senior leadership, as every senior on the roster started and each delivered a victory.
The team’s energy was high from the start, with the doubles’ squads setting the tone. Jeanne Mei Larouche ‘26 and senior Devon Coleman ‘25 earned a solid 8-2 win, while fellow seniors Maggie Molson ‘25 and Blake Coleman ‘27 edged out a dramatic 8-8 (7-4) tiebreak victory. Alix Smith ‘25 and McKenzie Goltermann ‘25 rounded out the sweep with a dominant 8-0 performance.
In singles play, Deerfield continued its impressive showing. Devon Coleman, Maggie Molson, Chloe Hernandez ‘27, and Ava Carvel ‘25 all secured straight-set wins, underscoring the team’s depth. Though Jeanne Mei Larouche and Blake Coleman came up short in their hard-fought matches, the team’s overall performance left no doubt about their command on the court.
The season has been defined by more than just wins and losses, it has been a journey of growth and fun. The contributions of the graduating seniors McKenzie Goltermann, Alix Smith, Devon Coleman, Maggie Molson, and Ava Carvel have been invaluable, and their presence will be deeply missed as the team looks toward the future.
Congratulations to all the players on an outstanding season, and a heartfelt thank you to the seniors for their guidance and dedication to Deerfield Tennis!
