Girls Lacrosse Returns LBC Bowl to Deerfield

On Saturday, the Big Green girls varsity lacrosse team traveled to Simsbury, CT for the annual Lindsay Bugbee Crosby Bowl. The annual girls varsity lacrosse game between Deerfield Academy and Westminster School honors and celebrates the life and legacy of Lindsay Bugbee Crosby, a beloved member of both school communities.

The LBC Bowl was conceived as an opportunity for both school communities to honor Lindsay’s love of competition and unite every year in their shared respect, appreciation and recognition of Lindsay’s impact to young women within so many different communities and the world of lacrosse. Every year, when Deerfield and Westminster girls varsity lacrosse teams play each other, they will compete for the LBC Bowl. The inscription on the bowl reads:

Coach, mentor, and dear friend of both Deerfield (2013-2015) and Westminster School (2015-2018). To honor Lindsay and her love for competition, lacrosse, and her meaningful impact on both school communities and lacrosse programs, Westminster and Deerfield Lacrosse play for the LBC Bowl each spring.

In this year’s 7th Annual LBC Bowl game , both teams gathered pre-game to celebrate and exchange sunflowers along with a few words from each team in honor of Lindsay.

Many thanks to Westminster for hosting our team and gifting us with LBC t-shirts that both teams wore proudly during their respective pre-game warm-ups.

At the opening game whistle, the game started off with both teams exchanging possessions. In the second quarter, the Big Green found their rhythm of play when they started finishing off their chances and pulled ahead on the scoreboard.

A special moment took place during the game when two sets of Big Green sisters – Kiera and Olivia Austen and Brady and Peyton Wierl – lined up together on the field for an offensive set.

In the second half, the Big Green continued to build upon their lead and carried their momentum through the final whistle to victory. The final score was 18-6 for the Big Green.

After a rainy game, the sun came out and shined brightly on the field of lacrosse players, coaches and fans at the final whistle.

With the victory, the Big Green proudly return the LBC Bowl to Deerfield and look forward to next year’s celebration with Westminster.

Saturday’s win extends the team’s current winning streak to five games and they will return to action this Wednesday when they host Loomis at 3pm. The team’s current record is 6-3.

The Deerfield girls and boys lacrosse teams look forward to holding their annual Lax for Linds Youth Lacrosse Clinic on Sunday, May 4, from 10 – 11 am. This free event welcomes children of all ages and genders to learn more about the sport. The clinic will be held on the Academy’s outdoor track turf (the indoor turf is reserved as a backup in the event of inclement weather). This event is held annually in honor of Lindsay Bugbee Crosby, a former Deerfield community member, a coach, and a beloved friend.

Go Big Green!
