On Wednesday, the girls’ varsity basketball team picked up a crucial road win in impressive fashion, defeating Westminster 63-48. From the opening whistle, Big Green dominated using their strong start to establish a forceful lead. The girls opened the game with an 8-0 run, setting the tone early. The team’s defense was sharp, and the offense flowed seamlessly, allowing them to build a 15-point lead by halftime. It was clear from the start by the clean passing and command at the free throw line that Deerfield was in control of the game. Key to the win were stellar plays from Charlotte Coody ‘26 and Sophie Kamil ‘26, both of whom earned double-doubles for scoring and rebounds. Coody’s dominance on both ends of the court was evident as she scored and grabbed critical rebounds. Kamil was the same, proving to be a constant threat in both scoring and controlling the boards.
Despite some resistance from Westminster in the second half, Deerfield maintained their lead throughout the game, and they cruised to a well-deserved victory. With their strong start and consistent play throughout, the team never allowed the game to slip away. The all-around solid performance from the team ensured they would walk away with a confident victory, as their resilient defense and offense continued until the final buzzer. With the momentum from this exhilarating road victory, the team will look ahead with determination as they prepare for their final match of the season against rival Choate on Friday!
