Doors of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!

Boys JV Hockey: Ryan Stenzler ’27
In Saturday’s victory for the Big Green, Ryan Stenzler was outstanding in goal, stopping four breakaways in the shootout. The game came down to one final breakaway for Salisbury and Ryan once again stopped the shot, giving the Big Green the victory.

JV Swimming: Syd Boswell ’29
This week, JV Swim would like to nominate Syd Boswell for DOTW. Syd has been an incredibly enthusiastic and consistent member of our team since day 1. She brings to the pool substantial experience and confidence, skillfully tackling each day’s workout with good humor and strong technique. This week, we gave the swimmers a choice to swim sets that really challenged them. Each day, Syd opted for the hardest interval she could swim. She chose to push herself to her limits and did so smiling. The coaches are so proud of her grit and work ethic! While we have yet to swim our first meet, we know Syd will be a key swimmer for us this season because of her flexibility and familiarity with the sport. And the cherry on top? She has the most fashionable fish-shaped pool shoes we’ve ever seen!

Girls Varsity Hockey: Charlotte McFadzean ’26
Charlotte earns girl’s hockey’s DOTW nomination this week for her great attitude and consistency so far in our season. In the defensive zone, Charlotte is poised with the puck and often looks to the middle of the ice to break us out cleanly. We are also very proud of her confidence on the blue line, as she has consistently been putting low shots through traffic and on the net. As a member of our senior class, she has done a great job of leading the team by setting a solid example day in and day out . Great work, Charlotte!

Girls JV Basketball: Katherine Sheehan ’28
Our DOTW is Katherine Sheehan. She’s led efforts in practices and in games to dial up the energy and communication, and she made some key hustle plays in this week’s win against Taft.

Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving: Emily Schumacher ‘28
The Door of the Week for DAGVSD is Emily Schumacher ‘28. Emily brings a bubbly, kind energy to the pool each day, creating a welcoming and positive environment for everyone around her. She approaches training with a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to improve, consistently putting in the effort and embracing challenges with a positive mindset. Emily is always willing to try anything and does so with enthusiasm and resilience. She encourages and uplifts her teammates, offering support and motivation that helps build confidence and team cohesion. Her combination of hard work, openness to growth, and infectious positivity inspires those around her and strengthens our team culture. It is for these reasons that she has earned this recognition—keep up the amazing work, Emily!

Dance: Aylen Shaw ’28 and Khloe Peña ’28
Khloe and Aylen both demonstarte tenacity and spirited dedication in learning dance! Their consistent work ethic and drive serve to raise the bar for their fellow dancers. Bravo, Khloe and Aylen!

Varsity Squash: Luke Clifford ‘28
Luke Clifford ’28 gutted it out on Wednesday against an incredibly fast, fit, and frustrating opponent from Kent to secure his first 5 game victory for Deerfield! He won with sportsmanship and grit, and we’re proud to welcome him to the 5-game win club!

Boys Thirds Squash: Jasper Gruhl ’28
Boys’ Thirds Squash DOTW is Jasper Gruhl.  Not only did he secure the team’s win against Eaglebrook, he was also an outstanding supporter of his teammates with both his cheering and sage advice.

Varsity Wrestling: DP Pope ’26
Wrestling’s door of the week is DP Pope.  DP has taken an important leadership role teaching a lot of less experienced wrestlers tricks and techniques.  He’s helping new wrestlers learn their own game and national-bound wrestlers sharpen details, besides having an extremely dominant season so far.

Girls Varsity Basketball: Sophie Kamil ‘26
Sophie Kamil was great in our win on Saturday. She had 8 steals and anchored our defense. She’s becoming one of the more versatile players in our league.

Strength & Conditioning: Cole Barrett ’26
Cole is a senior who was on the varsity soccer team and is playing at bason next year. He has shown up this week with a fantastic attitude and taking advantage of every minute he is spending in the weight room for S&C

Theater: Julia Pantano ‘29
Julia Pantano ’29 is this week’s Winter Theater Co-Curricular Door of the Week. Not only does she have incredible focus and performance ability, but she epitomizes the helpfulness and awareness of the stagecraft community. Julia consistently pays attention to the props that need to be in given scenes and offers her assistance in moving large pieces whether they are her responsibility or not. Many hands make light work, and with Julia’s dedication to helping our play move forward, we were able to run the entire first act yesterday! The collective achievement of our Matilda cast so far is incredible. Many thanks to Julia for adding to our kind, inclusive, and all hands in dynamic.

Go Big Green!
