Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
Boys Varsity Squash: Ian Henry ’28
Ian handled incredible pressures from a tough opponent, a huge home crowd at Andover, and the outcome of the match in his hands – he secured the win for the team and made us all very proud!
Wrestling: Emmanuel Atiegha ’27
DA Wrestling’s door of the week for 12/15 is Emmanuel Atiegha. Emmanuel fought an incredibly gutsy match at DA’s home quad meet on 12/13, taking a hard-earned decision against very experienced opposition. Emmanuel showed determination, grit, and good strategic awareness when extremely fatigued. That’s the kind of heart we want all our wrestlers to show in any match, win or lose. Congrats to Emmanuel for showing us all how it’s done. Go Big Green!
Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving: Gigi Selvig ‘27
The Door of the Week for DAGVSD is Gigi Selvig ‘27. Gigi brings a contagious energy to the pool each day, approaching every workout with a positive attitude and a smile that elevates our team environment. Her enthusiasm for swimming and competing is genuine and consistent, making practices productive, energizing, and motivating for those around her. Gigi is also a supportive teammate in and out of the pool who celebrates others’ successes, offers encouragement during challenging sets, and contributes to a culture of kindness and accountability. She is willing to push herself, embrace new events and challenges with confidence and determination, and it is for these reasons that she has earned this title! Keep up the great work, Gigi!
Girls JV Squash: Amanda Kelsey ’27
For strong performance in the last week earning her wins in matches and steady movement up the ladder.
Girls Varsity Hockey: Peyton Wierl ’26
Peyton Wierl ’26 earns girl’s ice hockey’s DOTW nomination. She has been very consistent in practices and games, always pumping the team up and working hard. In the Saturday’s game versus BB&N, Peyton took the puck from down low in the offensive zone, cut to the middle, and shot it to score our second point of the game. Peyton’s strong leadership is also recognized this week as we go into our holiday tournament. Awesome work, Pey!
Dance: Katherine Goltra ’27 and Rania Limam ’27
Katherine and Rania are consistently excellent in their efforts and engagement, on every occasion. Their involvement in all aspects of Dance at DA is exemplary- demonstrating how hard work combined with kindness yields outstanding results. Bravo Katherine and Rania!
JV Swimming & Diving: Avery Fillio ’29
The DAJVST would like to nominate Avery Fillio for this week’s DOTW. While Avery is a new swimmer, she’s displayed the mental fortitude of a seasoned vet. She’s been in attendance each day of the season and is always ready to challenge herself or try something new. In the past few weeks, she’s learned how to swim all four strokes, dive off the blocks, and flip turn! She’s got an incredibly positive attitude that she brings to team meeting to share good things with her peers and that carries her through tough practices. When the team learned butterfly, a notoriously hard stroke for beginners, she took it upon herself to swim numerous extra laps to practice her technique. This work ethic really impressed the coaches. Her determination and grit are sure to carry her to exciting new heights this season. We’re so glad to have her and can’t wait to watch her grow!
Girls JV Basketball: Eileen Li ’29
Our DOTW this week is Eileen Li ’29. Eileen brings an infectious enthusiasm to practice each day and has been a key contributor in each of the team’s wins over the last two games!
Conditioning for Athletes: Judah Zhuwao ‘28
This week’s strength and conditioning door of the week is Judah Zhuwao. He is always up for a challenge. Works hard to figure it out and doesn’t give up. He is an inspiration to his peers. Well done Judah!
Boys Thirds Squash: Giacomo Chapman ’26
DOTW for boys thirds squash is Giacomo Chapman. After suffering the only loss of last week’s competition to Eaglebrook, he bounced back to win a tough 5 game match against his Williston Northampton opponent.
Music: Emily Xu ’28
As the drum set player, Emily Xu ’28 is the core of the Matilda orchestra. As the orchestra has begun preparing over 2 hours of professional-level music for this Winter’s musical theater production, Emily has been the rock at the center of the ensemble. She has learned every detail of her part in advance of every daily rehearsal. She provides a shining example of punctuality, professionalism, and preparation for the entire band, and the show literally could not go on without her exemplary work!
Theatre: Plum Schiff ’27
Plum has brought professionalism, emotional depth, and curiosity to the rehearsal room. Her dedication to excavating the root and specificity of her character’s nuance is yielding beautiful results and we have only just begun. Plum is a positive role model to her fellow ensemble members, asking thoughtful questions and consistently arriving prepared and focused on the task at hand, whatever it may be. It is a joy to support this young artist’s work, and we look forward to the sweet rewards the role of Miss Honey will bring to the community!
Girls Varsity Basketball: Eleanor DuPont ’26
Eleanor DuPont was great for us this week. Had a big second half in our first win of the year. Played excellent full court defense on the other team’s best player, had numerous big assists, and hit a huge three at the end of the game to seal the win.
