Congratulations to our first Doors of the Week for the 2025-2026 winter term!
Girls Varsity Hockey: Alessandra Picard ’29
Alessandra Picard ’29 earns DOTW for the girl’s hockey team for her hard work thus far in practices and her key plays in our games last weekend. In practices, AP is focused and attentive, learning all our systems and working hard to push her teammates. In both games versus NYA and St. Mark’s, she marked 3 goals that were pure results of her hard work on the ice. In the NYA game, her positioning in front of the net was what allowed her to redirect a shot to score. And in the St. Mark’s game, it was her snipe that tied the score – as well as her overtime goal – that won us the game. Congrats AP on a solid week! Keep it up!
Boys Thirds Squash: Jack LaRovere Adams ’28
The boys thirds squash DOTW is Jack LaRovere Adams, who won a tough five game match to conclude the day’s competition.
Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving: Lily Johnson ‘28
The Door of the Week for DAGVSD is Lily Johnson ‘28. In these first weeks of the season, Lily has consistently showed up with a positive attitude and pushed herself and her teammates through practices and sets. She is a dedicated athlete who trains hard and creates such a motivating environment for others. Lily has set an impressive standard for the rest of the season in terms of her camaraderie, grit, and determination. In our meet against NMH, she persisted through challenging races, supported her teammates, and demonstrated mental toughness and a growth mindset. Lily’s persistence, hard work, and attitude so far this season have earned her this title! Keep up the great work, Lily!
Varsity Wrestling: Blaze Etienne-Cummings ’28
Wrestling’s Door of the Week is Blaze Etienne-Cummings. Blaze has set the tone for our other wrestlers this year. He has been focused, team-oriented, and professional at both our meets and all our practices. He courageously wrestled up a weight class to help the team (and won handily in that match). He has exhibited exceptional effort and great communication. Go Blaze and go Big Green!
Girls JV Basketball: Cecy Yazwinski ’27
Cecy Yazwinski ’27 is a joy to coach and play with; she brings hustle and focus to each practice, and she was our leading scorer in Deerfield’s first win of the season.
Dance: Katherine Goltra ’27 and Linnea Knox ’27
A shout out to Katherine Goltra and Linnea Knox – the new Winter Dance captains!
Girls JV Squash: Chloe Schiff ’28
This week’s DOTW goes to Chloe Schiff who played in her first ever squash match at the number 2 position against Hotchkiss and notched the lone win in an epic 5-gamer. The score was 3-11, 11-9, 4-11, 11-9, 11-4 against a very strong Hotchkiss team. Chloe’s prowess is only growing as she continues to learn the game, and we are proud to celebrate her victory!
Theatre: Rich Zhou ’26
Rich has been tasked with bringing the larger-than-life character of the Trunchbull to life in Matilda, in the Musical, which will open the last weekend of February 2026. Not only is he fearless and uninhibited in his exploration of his character. He already memorized his lines for the scene we rehearsed yesterday. His laser focus and flexibility in the rehearsal room are sure to reap benefits as we continue to delve into the show throughout the winter term. We are very proud of this hardworking leader, whose preparation and dedication are sure to produce an exceptional performance.
Girls Varsity Basketball: Ryan Rogers ’27
Ryan Rogers is the girls varsity basketball DOTW. She played excellent defense and has displayed great leadership through our first month together. She never stops playing hard and is improving at a rapid rate.
Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving: Wes Thomas ’28
Wes is fairly new to competitive swimming, but no one works harder in each practice than Wes. He constantly pushes himself and is innately curious and active in working to get better each day. Wes is an unselfish and upbeat team member, and in our most recent meet against NMH (a Deerfield win!), Wes swam in our two longest events, the 200 and 500 Freestyle, and even took third place in the 500. We look forward to a full competitive swim season for Wes – the sky is the limit on what he can achieve!
