Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
Boys Cross-Country: JT Gally ‘26
The Door of the Week for boys XC is JT Gally ’26. JT deserves this commendation for successfully and maturely managing a small injury over the past week and returning to race for the squad with a terrific competitive effort that earned points for the team. You are truly a leader by example, JT, and DAXC is better because of what you do.
Varsity Volleyball: Sofia Govi ‘28
Door of the week this week for varsity volleyball goes to Sofia Govi (’28). Due to an injury last week, DA had to switch from a 2-setter rotation to a 1-setter rotation. A big part of the success of this switch was the defensive addition of Sofia in the back row. She stepped into the right back position, contributing not only with her defense, but also with strong serving. She had multiple timely serving runs, serving a total 20 times in the match including 4 aces. Sofia continues to improve every day in practice and is relied on in games to fit into any defensive weakness. Congratulations Sofia.
Theater: Ellie Maeda ’27
Ellie Maeda is the Theater Program’s deserving Door of the Week. Ever reliable and focused, Ellie arrives at rehearsal with her sleeves rolled up and ready to work. When waiting to step on to the stage Ellie can be seen going over and over her lines, exploring different intonations and discovering new ways to communicate her character’s objectives. This desire to keep digging to find new nuggets allows Ellie to make sure that her character is multi-faceted, nuanced and authentic. She understands that the first take will not suffice and there is always more work to be done. Keep going Ellie – and thank you for being a model of professionalism throughout this rehearsal period.
Girls Cross-Country: Stella Frankel ‘26, Lucy Linnenbach ‘27, Lucia Kinder ‘28, Claire Xia ‘28, Paola Fusco-Romo ‘27, Casey Lee ‘28, Iris Zhu ‘28, Grier Girard ‘28, Allegra Sandell ‘27, Holly Bernstein ‘27, Maisy Johnson ‘26, Sabine Stevens ‘27, and Sloane Celli ‘27
This week, Girls’ Cross Country Captains nominate Stella, Lucy, Lucia, Claire, Paola, Casey, Iris, Grier, Allegra, Holly, Maisy, Sabine, and Sloane as Doors of the Week. Last Saturday these girls achieved season PRs on a very difficult Choate course. Not only did they tackle a hilly and challenging course, but they did it all with smiles on their faces! We’re truly so proud of their camaraderie and hard work this season!
Boys Junior A Soccer: Justin Treyz ’29
One of the defining features of this year’s excellent Boys Thirds team is the focus, intensity, and skill of its ninth-graders, and no one exemplifies these qualities better than Justin. A silly, fun-loving kid off the pitch, he flips a switch when he steps onto the field, transforming into a stonefaced professional committed to relentless performance. The coaches trust him in any position, and he accepts every assignment without hesitation. He’s making an especially large impact at outside back, where his speed and strength shut down offensive drives and launch our counterattacks. His soccer intelligence matches his technical ability—he consistently makes smart decisions with the ball at his feet. This paid off in a big way on Wednesday when he read the defense and keeper perfectly and, from his fullback position, sent a precise ball soaring toward the far post. His teammate was there to finish, scoring our first goal against Westminster. This moment perfectly captured the valuable contributions he has been making all season. His future in the program is bright.
Drawing & Painting: Jonathan Xu’28
“This is a recreation of a closeup of the Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo Da Vinci. In the process of painting I used the technique of glazing and adopted the process of the Renaissance oil painters to achieve a Sfumato effect.” – Jonathan Xu’28
JV Field Hockey: Ellora Devitre ’26
Since week one, Ellora has led our squad on and off the field with such heart and understanding. She has hustle and grace in equal measure, both in practice and at gametime. She is supportive and encouraging to everyone, inclusive in her regard for her teammates. Ellora’s play in our game against Westminster today typified her strengths: she scored our first goal on a beautiful give-and-go with captain Rose Manning and then, after a series of perfect passes among teammates, she received, then completed the run by sending in a cross that resulted in our second goal. We love Ellora and feel so grateful to have her leading the team this year.
Thirds Volleyball: Precious Ewuzie ’28
Precious has become a fierce presence at the net. As one of our setters, she is routinely setting up her teammates for success. Over the past few games, Precious has shown that she can be an offensive force herself, tipping the ball, get blocks, and rallying the team around hard-earned points. The teams we face are often intimidated by her game face as well. Precious has consistently shown a commitment to improving her own game and has become a leader in the front row. Keep up the great work, Precious!
Boys Water Polo: GD Lee ’28
Water polo nominates GD Lee for DOTW. GD is an outstanding player. In every game he exhibits physical skill, emotional patience, and mental fortitude. In a very intense game against Williston, GD proved himself to be a true utility player; he played the wing, he played holeset, he played 2 meter defender, he played strong side attacker and all the while, holding his composure and leading his team in energy and attention. GD is a natural leader on our squad and his coaches and teammates alike celebrate his talent. Way to go GD, keep up the hard work and positivity!
Dance: Noah Bennett ’27 and Yewon Kim ’28
Noah and Yewon share excellence in performance! They consistently bring their very best efforts to their work in dance class- whether that be in rehearsal, class, or on stage with an audience! Their emotiveness, fierceness, and effusive spirits are positively contagious and the represent the dance program with pride and gusto!
Girls Varsity Soccer: Winnie Underwood ‘28
WOW! That was unbelievable! How did she make that save? The Big Green goalkeeper is making great saves! These are just a handful of the compliments that Winnie Underwood has received over the past couple of games against two undefeated and formidable opponents. From clutch breakaway saves to overhead back-to-bar saves, she has been doing it all for the Big Green! As a sophomore goalkeeper, stepping into the starting role this season, Winnie has continued to improve every time she’s stepped on the field this season. Her athleticism and quick reactions have been impressive to watch on display! We look forward to watching Winnie continue to grow with every play this season! Fly Winnie fly!
Boys Jr. B Soccer: Nate Braddock ’29
The Quad Squad Door of the Week is Nate Braddock. Nate has been recovering from an injury all season and was finally able to play his first game with the team this week. While it can be challenging to be on the sidelines and watch your teammates compete, Nate always kept a positive attitude and did what he could with the team to be ready when he was cleared to play. We look forward to seeing him on the field in the last few games of the season!
Varsity Field Hockey: Riley Farmer ‘26
This week’s DOTW for VFH is Riley Farmer ‘26. Riley has been an invaluable member of our field hockey team as our manager. She is just as much a member of our team as the players, and is constantly building others up and getting them excited to play. She often shares insights during halftime or in the locker room, and exemplifies what it means to bleed green. We are truly lucky to have her this season, and are so grateful for her leadership and dedication to the team.
JV Volleyball: Audrey Tjeong ’29
Audrey Tjoeng is JV Volleyball’s Door of the Week. Audrey played a key role in Deerfield’s incredible five-set comeback victory over Hotchkiss. She brought energy and focus to every point, contributing significantly on both ends of the court. Audrey recorded multiple aces throughout the match—especially in sets 2 and 4—giving the team a spark from the service line when it was needed most. Defensively, she stood out with strong digs and consistent passing, helping to ground the team during long rallies and pressure moments. When Audrey wasn’t playing, she remained fully engaged—cheering loudly, encouraging her teammates, and helping maintain the team’s positive momentum. Audrey’s determination, reliability, and unwavering support of her teammates make her an essential part of the team and a standout leader both on and off the court.
