Doors of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!

Girls JV Lacrosse: Greta Trapp ‘25
Greta Trapp ’25 receives our DOTW nomination this week for GJV lacrosse. As one of our captains, she does a great job leading the team by being energetic every day at practice and including all her teammates. Greta has also been doing really well on low attack. In our game versus Westy, Greta marked 4 goals. Keep up the great work, Greta!!

Boys JV Lacrosse: Sawyer Johnson ’25 and Leo Ma ’25
The Boy’s JV Lacrosse Team would like to nominate Captains Sawyer Johnson and Leo Ma as their DOTW. Their solid play in both practice and games has helped anchor a formidable defense for the team this year. Their positive attitudes and determination have set standards for their teammates to follow. We appreciate everything they do to help the team come together and succeed. Thank you, Sawyer and Leo !!

Boys Varsity Tennis: Dima Kasumov ’27
Dima Kasumov is the boy’s varsity tennis DOTW. Kasumov had a successful weekend at the George Shafer Doubles Invitational over the weekend in Newtown Square, PA. Teaming up with Luka Kokosadze- and with help from Spencer Trees- Kasumov won the #4 doubles bracket and was a big contributor to the team’s third place overall finish in the event.

Girls JV Tennis: Emily Menzies ’27
Emily Menzies is our Door of the Week. She was super competitive in both the doubles and singles matches yesterday, back and forth in singles and dominating in doubles with Eugenia.  She typically comes off the court commenting on how she enjoyed her match, no matter the outcome. Truly she is an authentic and kind person who brings out other people’s kindness in everyone she meets.  What a role model. Way to go, Emily!

Girls Varsity Track & Field: Katherine Ni ’26 and Vivian Monopoli ’26
These athletes both jumped into the 4×400 at crucial moments. They had worked hard during their previous events and knew it would be in the best interest of the team to dig deep and compete again. This was just one example of their team first mentality. They are often athletes who can be found supporting their teammates from the sidelines or giving tips about their specific events. They lead by example during practice and always give it their all. I am so proud of their season so far and cannot wait to see what they accomplish as the season progresses. This week’s Girls Track & Field’s Doors of the Week go to Katherine Ni and Vivian Monopoli.

Girls Varsity Water Polo: Jazmine Wilson-Bigornia ’25
The water polo team’s DOTW is Jazmine Wilson-Bigornia. In truth, Jazmine is a viable candidate for DOTW every week; she captains her team with cool, controlled energy, even though her position (2-meter defender) is arguably the most exhaustive in the pool. However, her work this week in our game against Loomis was nothing short of spectacular. In addition to a fantastic and tenacious defensive performance, Jaz hat-tricked by the end of the first half, and finished the game out with a total of 5 goals, most of which were top corner shots from outside 5 meters. Her pursuance of positive team culture has helped make it possible for our team to have fun, despite the challenges we’ve faced this year.  Great job Jaz! You are a force to be reckoned with!

Varsity Baseball: Caleb Allen ’25
Caleb has been a tremendously positive addition to the varsity team this year. He always puts the team first! Caleb most recently took a perfect game into the last inning of an important 6-2 league win at Cushing.

JV Baseball:  Jason Jaikissoon 28
Jason had a strong day offensively and defensively.  He started in the outfield and made a great catch with the sun in his eyes. Later in the game he moved to short stop where he took a throw from Max on a steal and put down a perfect tag for the out.  He also had a strong day at the plate,  getting on base three times out of four at bats and scoring twice.

Varsity Golf: Aaron Koo ’28
On April 23, Aaron Koo shot a 35 against Hotchkiss and Berkshire to help Deerfield golf prevail in a match against those two schools. He was the medalist in that match. This past Wednesday, Aaron shot a 36 to earn medalist honors in Deerfield’s victory over NMH.

Dance: Louis Calderwood ’27 and Juliet Lopez ’27
Louis continues to go above and beyond in his study of dance. He is a respectful student who always listens to instruction and applies corrections. This shows tremendously in his continued improvement in dance. His dedication and positive attitude in the classroom stands out and he is always willing to help other students. Bravo, Louis!
Juliet is new to the dance program this Spring and has quickly made her mark! She is reliable and consistent in her attendance and participation; always putting in her best effort. Her engagement in class and willingness to try new techniques is exemplary- Bravo, Juliet!

Varsity Softball: Izzy Kirby ’26
Softball’s DOTW is Izzy Kirby. Izzy has been playing first base due to injuries and leaning into it. She has the best attitude and we feel so lucky to have her on the team!

Go Big Green!
