Doors of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!

Ultimate: Brandon Smith ‘26
This week’s Door of the Week is Brandon Smith ’26.  Brandon is a dedicated player who has improved a lot this season.  He is an athletic player who is willing to take risks and who had excellent Spirit of the Game.  It is true that one of his “risks” was a botched hammer in an attempted pull, but he wins the “Bounce Back” award for his outstanding performance in our Choate tournament games this past Saturday.  Brandon played really aggressive defense; he cut well, and he had multiple good catches, including a goal.  We love having Brandon on our team!

Girls Varsity Water Polo: Sarah Hanks ’25
In her return to the squad this week, Sarah proved herself as an asset to the team. Although she scored and made assists in our match, what was most impressive about Sarah’s performance was her ability to remain poised in the face of chaos. This skill is commendable in any sport, but particularly in one as physically aggressive as Water polo, where you’re constantly face to face with an opponent who’s fighting tooth and nail to steal the ball. Great job Sarah! Keep up the hard work!

Softball: Nicole Lefavour ’27
Nicole has been an absolute backbone for our team. As our go-to pitcher, she dominates the circle and leads with confidence, game after game, never backing down. Her presence on the field is unwavering. She doesn’t hang her head after a loss and is always reaching out to help teammates in practice. Despite being only a second-year, Nicole sets a high standard not just for herself, but for everyone around her, reflecting her growing leadership. At the plate, she’s been a force to be reckoned with, collecting hits in every game this season. Most recently, she went 5-for-8 in our matchups against Taft and NMH. We’re incredibly lucky to have Nicole out there giving it her all!

Girls Varsity Lacrosse: Defense Team – Olivia Smith ’25, Kate Doucette ’27, Eloise Hotchberg ’27, Peyton Wierl ’26, Brady Wierl ’26, Keira Austen ’26, Emma Pless ’27, Maisy Johnson ’26, Ellie Schiller ’25, Emerson Lewis ’28
The girls varsity lacrosse defense has consistently improved throughout the season, with their best game of the year coming in a win over Williston and Taft this week, both of which are teams the Big Green lost to in 2024.  On Wednesday, the defense posted a 2nd half shutout against Williston, and limited a talented Taft team to just 9 goals.  This group has attacked their areas of growth together in practice with grit, communication, and joy.  Way to go D-Unit!

Boys Varsity Tennis: Luka Kokosadze ’25
Luka Kokosadze is the boys tennis DOTW. Luka has been working extremely hard in practice and the improvements are showing. Earning the chance to play at #4 singles against NMH- his first crack at a non-exhibition match- Luka struggled early but settled down in set number two and took full control from there, winning that set 6-3 and then closing out his opponent 10-6 in the third set superbreaker.

Varsity Baseball: Matthew Hough ’26
Matthew has been a tremendous asset for the varsity baseball program. He has been a positive contributor and has done everything asked of him and more.

Girls Varsity Tennis: Ava Carvel
Ava Carvel spent last week demonstrating grit, resilience, teamwork, and persistence.  She had a standout performance against Exeter last week, winning an important match with determination and high-level problem-solving.  Ava is always a positive force on the team, and her toughness sets the tone for those around her to compete with energy and joy.

Boys JV Tennis: Matteo Alvarez ’26
DOTW goes to Matteo Alvarez ’26 for improvement, coachability, and notching his first “point” towards a match! He came away with an important win over NMH to help with a near clean sweep. Matteo also earns this award for the positive energy he brings to the team and his excitement about matches.

Theatre: Lottie Levine ‘25
A veteran actor, Lottie consistently shows up ready to do her best at all times. Reliable, and solution oriented, Lottie brings positivity and cheerfulness to the rehearsal room day after day. She is the “glue” in every ensemble and will be much missed in the Theater Program when she graduates. Thank you Lottie, for all your dedication to the many productions you have been involved in!

Go Big Green!
