Doors of the Week

Congratulations to our first spring 2025 Doors of the Week! They are each helping their spring team or co-curricular begin positively. Great work!

Ultimate: Julia Horobets ’26
The Ultimate Door of the Week is Julia Horobets ’26.  Julia joined the team recently, and she has enthusiastically embraced the sport.  New to the game, Julia worked hard to develop her throwing technique, learn offensive and defensive strategies, and understand how to apply her natural athletic abilities.  When one coach complimented her impressively improved throws, she noted that she’s improving because she practices every day, whether it’s a practice day or not.  Right on, Julia!  We’re so glad to have you on our team.

Varsity Baseball: Colton Simas ’28
Colton is off to a fantastic start for the Deerfield Varsity Baseball Team! He practices at a high level every day, has absorbed everything that the coaching has given him, and has really bought into the team culture. He collected his first varsity hit in yesterday’s 15-2 win over Rivers.

Boys JV Lacrosse: Johan Wilkerson ’27
The Boy’s JV Lacrosse Team nominates Johan Wilkerson as their DOTW for his first game ever of lacrosse, starting in the goal against a very talented Brunswick Varsity B team.  Johan did a great job of stopping shots and clearing the ball from the defensive end of the field.

Boys Varsity Tennis: Walker Naughton ’25
Walker Naughton had a really strong start for boys varsity tennis this spring. The senior co-captain has gone undefeated in both singles and doubles during the team’s first two matches. Against Groton, he secured the first singles win for the Doors; two days later at Belmont Hill, he and partner Tai Feng clinched the doubles point for the team which Walker then followed up a straight-set singles win.

Theater: Declan Kelley ’25
Declan has got off to a very strong start in rehearsals for the Spring production, The One Act Play That Goes Wrong. This play demands a significant amount of energy and stamina, and requires its actors to bring a ton of ideas to rehearsals. Declan delivers all of these qualities in spades! This show also asks actors to make bold and courageous staging choices, and Declan demonstrates his collaborative spirit and fearlessness daily. Professional, focused and daring, Declan continues to display what it is to be a senior actor at the top of his game!

Music: Elisha Moise ’25
Elisha stepped up to lead the School Meeting House Band in Mr Bergeron’s absence for both the weekly School Meeting and the Spring Visit Day Arts showcase this week. His leadership allowed the music to play on for the DA community and our visiting accepted students!

Theatre: Tech Team – Mason Avalos ’25, Cam Bloch ’28, Anna Guerrini ’25, Mikaylah Meertins ’26, Ruby Remillard ’26 & Vivian Wan ’25
The students in the Theatre Tech Team are helping with painting and building and they are going well above just showing up for the spring theatre co-curricular. They take direction well and seem to enjoy the work. It takes a team to create theatre and our team is killing it!

Softball: Yewon Kim ’28
Softball’s Door of the Week is Yewon Kim. She is throwing herself into the game, learning a lot, getting better every day, and bring incredible positivity to each practice. She’s a great new addition to the team.

Boys JV Tennis: Tommy Li ’28
This award doubles as an Award for World’s Best Manager. Tommy is the Boy’s JV Tennis Manager and he is a blessing to have! He is prompt, follows directions well, and is reliable. It would be impossible to have practice without him…literally! He ensures the tennis basket filled with balls are at the courts when we need them. He also fulfills other duties. On behalf of the entire team, thank you so much Tommy for all you do!

Dance: Hannah Horner ’25 and Aidenne Villa ’26
Hannah and Aidenne are exemplary students and classmates! As featured soloists in the upcoming Spring Dance Concerts, they both consistently go above and beyond in terms of effort and dedication to Dance. They are both kind and supportive of their fellow dancers and model hard work and excellence all around.

Track & Field: Lauren Galli ’26 and Zoe Galaburda ’26
These athletes came into the season ready to work. They both participated in the winter track concentration, where they focused on weight lifting sessions and Keegan workouts to build their strength, agility, and perseverance. Although they have both been excelling at practice because of this foundation, they have also taken steps to introduce the sport to new athletes. From chatting with teammates during workout to helping set up a mark for the long jump, these athletes have shown some strong leadership as we begin an exciting season. For these reasons and many more, Girls’ Track & Field’s Door Of The Week goes to Zoe Galaburda and Lauren Galli.

Boys Track & Field: Crosby Fay ’28 and Uyi Inomwan ’28
In Boys Track & Field, our Doors of the Week for this first week of April are two ninth grade throwers, Crosby Fay and Uyi Inomwan. Each has showed a strong work ethic in their first couple weeks with the Track & Field team. Each has also demonstrated that they have the wisdom to learn constructively from the advice of older peers in their event group. Keep up the good learning, and eventually you’ll be the ones teaching!

Go Big Green!
