Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
BJV squash DOTW: Jason Xiang ’28
Jason entered the season at #7 on the ladder and last week completed his journey to #1. He has shown remarkable improvement, playing challenge and interscholastic matches with intensity and sportsmanship. Dubbed “nonchalant Jason” by his teammates, he has quietly lifted everyone’s game. Last week against Eaglebrook, he battled a much better player to a 3-2 loss with many Varsity boys cheering him on. He gave it everything he had and stood out as a true exemplar for our squash program and school.
Wrestling: Blaze Etienne-Cummings ’28
Wrestling’s door of the week is Blaze Etienne-Cummings. Blaze was our top performer at Class A’s last weekend and is leading by example in the Kravis this week preparing for New Englands. Blaze continues to push himself to work hard and truly shows up to practice in a way that inspires the rest of the team. Congrats to Blaze!

Girls Varsity Hockey: Izzy Kirby ’26
Deerfield Girls Hockey’s nomination for DOTW goes to our very own Izzy Kirby ’26. Izzy has been an absolute powerhouse in the net all season, consistently making key saves and saving us in tough games. From day one, Izzy has shown up to practices and games with a hard-working and relentless mentality. She is cool and calm under pressure and we can always count on her to make crazy saves. To top this off, Izzy has collected several shut-out games over the course of the season. Izzy stepped up her game once again in our last match versus St. Paul’s by stopping numerous shots and – quite literally – standing on her head at times. We are so proud of Izzy’s growth and consistency throughout this season and cannot wait to see her continue to elevate her game. Keep up the hard work, Izzy!
Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving: Camila Garcia Mena ’27
The DAGVSD Door of the Week goes to Camila Garcia Mena ’27. Camila is a determined and hardworking athlete who has consistently pushed herself in practice and meets. After overcoming an injury, she has trained her way back with mental toughness and grit. During our LWW trip to Florida, Camila tried new intervals, swam an impressive 200-freestyle time trial, and contributed to a positive, supportive team spirit. She has remained focused on improving, honing her technique, and being intentional with her training, showing incredible progress. Camila is awarded this title for her perseverance, hard work, and self-motivation. Keep up the great work!
Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving: Akira “Beacon” Atornphatai ’25
The DOTW for Deerfield Boys’ Swimming is Akira “Beacon” Atornphatai. Swimming was not really on Beacon’s radar as a new freshman to Deerfield in the fall of 2023, but he tried out, made varsity, and, over his four years here, has become a leader of the team, serving as a captain this year. Beacon’s main event is the 100 Fly, but he’s always willing to try other events and do whatever helps the team out. He is a true team-first individual who is extremely coachable and a terrific teammate. We’re looking forward to seeing how he’ll do at our New England’s Championship meet in early March (our bet is in a top 16 placement!)
Girls Varsity Squash: Ella Ross ’28
Ella Ross ’28 has had an excellent start to her Deerfield career! Playing #2 on the varsity ladder as a ninth grader isn’t easy and she has risen to the challenge with a 6-2 record as we enter the tail end of the season. She has worked hard during practice to elevate her game and will undoubtedly play a key role in the program for years to come.
Girls JV Basketball: Lucia Kinder ’28
The Door of the Week for Girls JV Basketball is Lucia Kinder ’28. Lucia’s love for and commitment to basketball has been clear since the first day of try outs. She is the first one to practice every day and is the last one taking shots after practice ends. Lucia has a fantastic attitude and always wants to give her all at practice and in games. She is a very strong player and has been in asset in many of our games. She played very well in our Wednesday game against Worcester, executing our new press trap and getting a few impressive layups. We are very excited to have Lucia on the team and cannot wait to see what the next few years hold for her.
Theatre: Charles DeSorcy ’28
I nominate Charles DeSorcy for Door of the Week. Charles is utilizing multiple skillsets as part of the Technical Crew of Eurydice, the Winter Theater Co-curricular. Not only has he composed and recorded an original, 12-part melody for the character, Orpheus, but he supports the chords of the Stone characters as well. Charles is both a sound technician and designer for this play beyond his compositional duties. He consistently communicates with a positive attitude, generous knowledge base and performs his multifaceted responsibilities with grace. Keep up the good work, Charles!
Girls Varsity Basketball: Eleanor duPont ’26
Girls Varsity Basketball would like to recognize Eleanor duPont as Door of the Week! Despite her being out this season due to injury, she has been a very present and valuable member of our team. She does all that she can to help the team during practices and games – keeping stats, timing, and always offering enthusiastic support of her teammates! Thank you, Eleanor!
Skiing: Rowan Skinner ‘27
Rowan Skinner finished 6th in the slalom and 2nd in the giant slalom at the 2025 Class A Alpine Skiing Championships on Wednesday, February 12.
