Doors of the Week

Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!

Boys JV Hockey: Sawyer Johnson ‘25
This week’s nomination for Boys JV hockey Door of the Week goes to Sawyer Johnson. He’s been a tremendous teammate to everyone on the team. He volunteered to play goalie at the start of the season because we had none. He comes to practice everyday and gets pucks shot at him. His smile is ever-present, and he’s gotten a lot better at the position. He played a period of shutout hockey against archrival Choate last Saturday. And now he serves as a positive role model to up and coming jv hockey goalie PJ Pirsch ‘28. He’s the kind of student every coach would love to have on the roster. Great work Sawyer!!

Girls Varsity Hockey: Olivia Austen ‘27
Our nomination for DOTW this week goes to Olivia Austen ‘27. After a game-heavy week, the Deerfield Girls Varsity Hockey team managed to outscore its opponents and bring home three major wins. As speedy and skillful a player she is, Olivia helped contribute to these wins with multiple goals and crucial plays. In our game versus Choate, Olivia’s powerplay goal found the top of the net to send us out on top. And our game versus Taft, she answered again with another snipe. Points aside, Oliva earns this nomination this week for her impressive play in all areas of the ice. She has been super effective on her backchecks lately, and her speed in the offensive zone entries have been important to the team’s success. Off the ice, she brings a lot of energy to the team by cheering on her teammates and working hard in practices. Keep up the great work, Olivia!

JV Swimming: Jazmine Wilson-Bigornia ’25
This week, JV Swim would like to nominate Jazmine Wilson-Bigornia as our DOTW. As a four-year member and two-year captain for the team, Jaz is a leader on JV Swim in both points and spirit. Jaz is unflappable, consistent, and hard-working. She is a true team player, gladly competing in any event we put her in. She’s grown exponentially over the past four seasons, both in and out of the pool. She’s dropped nearly 10 seconds from her personal best in a number of events since she joined the team in 9th grade and, in recent seasons, has flourished into a trusted role model for our younger swimmers. Each day she leads through example and through her thoughtfulness and good humor. We’re so lucky to have her on the team and will miss her greatly next year.

Drawing & Painting: Sabine Stevens’ 27
Number 1 is the one with the view of the building and #2 the one with the embrace of two friends. #1) Oil on Canvas and #2) Watercolor on paper

Girls Varsity Basketball: Allegra Alfaro ’25
This week, Girls Varsity Basketball nominates Allegra Alfaro ’25 for DOTW. Allegra has been pushing herself all season long. Allegra came off the bench in our last game against Andover and had an outstanding game. Allegra showed how hard work and determination pays off.

Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving: Giulio Migliarina ’25
For swimming this week I’d like to nominate Giulio Migliarina for Door of the Week.  As a team captain, he has helped create an awesome culture for the program and as a swimmer, he is amazing, recently getting the pool record (we believe) at Choate in both the 100 Fly and 200 IM! Congrats to Giulio!

Go Big Green!
